00:32 Oh, Ian Ian. Yeah, it is good see you -- Good to see you as well
00:35 everybody knows it's vampire walk-on music.
00:40 That's what I -- I hear that in my sleep.
00:43 ian's originally from new orleans. Modeled there for a long time. And wound up here in new york city. Still modeling, huh?
00:51 At the time, yes. It's a long time ago.
00:53 yeah, sure.
00:54 And I just past the building I was living in. -- Oh really?
00:57 This is like 1995.
00:59 Yeah you lived in one of those model houses with a bunch of models?
01:02 Yeah, it was pretty cool when you're 16 and I don't think anyone was over 20. -- right. Of course not.
01:12 Sheet metal. Summertime.
01:14 tanning. -- Oh, yeah.
01:17 feeling good and looking strong.
01:20 no food in the refrigerator. No.
01:23 The 3-year-old bottle of mustard.
01:26 that's it.That's right.
01:30 But since then, things have changed and you've done quite well including you were on "lost" for a year, right? Which has become a big abc hit.
01:39 it is. And I was here.
01:41 that's right. Right after they killed me. This was my last stop.
01:46 did the dinosaur get you? -- yeah.
01:49 Dinosaur. tell me the truth. You don't care anymore.
01:51 You're off the show.
01:53 Do me a favor. Tell me the truth. What is killing off all the people on the island? You don't care.
02:59 You're on another series, another network.
02:01 Is it a dinosaur or not?
02:03 the flu.
02:04 the flu?
02:06 I keep seeing the shadow of a dinosaur.
02:10 I fell 30,000 feet off a 767 and survived.
02:15 And I fell 30,000 out of a beach craft and died.
02:21 I don't know.
02:22 listen. I used to work on a soap opera and I know that death is not enough to kill a character.
02:28 Are you coming back? -- I am.
02:30 I knew it! Death never kills anybody on a tv show.
02:34 I'm really thankful and really happy that those guys figured that all out. It's fun. I flew back. I already we want back.
02:41 10-Hour night there, 10-hour flight back and then I was on the ground for 24 hours.
02:47 So in a 40-hour period.
02:48 we're talking about Lost -- yeah.
02:51 is it a flashback?
02:54 you can't reveal. What if ...
02:55 Damon would shoot me. -- Really?
02:59 I can be persuaded ...
03:01 make him talk.
03:02 We're going to take a break and come back and talk about "the .....
03:10 deeply.
03:12 back now with ian somerhalder.
03:15 We're going to talk about this new series now, "the vampire series" but there was another series a few years ago before this.
03:23 "Trueblood," that you went up for. -- Oh, no.
03:24 And what happened there?
03:27 I bombed the audition with alan ball.
03:29 what does that mean?
03:31 I just couldn't... I couldn't... I just... I blew it.
03:36 And I couldn't... and I was reallybummed and I couldn't watch "trueblood" at all.
03:43 Because I was really sad.
03:45 So that along comes "the vampire diaries" and you give it another try.
03:48 And I got this one -- Really?
03:49 Was hard, but I got it.
03:51 And now, I can watch "true blood"
03:58 when I was acting and like any job that I auditioned for that I didn't get, i couldn't watch and eventually, i threw my television off the window.
04:07 I couldn't even watch commercials.
04:09 I think there's a legality factor.
04:12 but vampires continue to be hot, right?
04:13 The audiences love them.
04:15 It's an interesting thing. yeah.
04:20 is there anything different about your vampire in this, "the vampire diaries" series?
04:24 As an anecdote about my vampire ...
04:26 Vampires are vampires, right?
04:28 No, mine is the coolest one though.
04:30 what makes your vampire so cool?
04:33 Because he -- I don't know. He dresses well. Gets all the girls.
04:38 yeah.
04:38 He's got the best lines.
04:39 Kevin Williamson likes the best lines.
04:41 He is such a good dialog writer ... he writes the best conversations.
04:46 he is the best. Does the best.
04:47 but this is about a high school girl who is in love?
04:50 Yeah, really original story.
04:56 mortal girl finds herself in love with a vampire.
05:01 And then sort of in this weird triangle with him and his brother. -- a-ha.
05:07 oh, you're the brother.
05:10 You're the brother and you're also the vampire.
05:12 I'm the brother and the vampire.
05:14 We're having so much fun doing this.
05:16 I want to know when did vampires become sexy and not scary?
05:20 I remember being afraid of vampires. -- Yeah.
05:22 When I was a kid, I remember it being scary.
05:33 bites you right in the throat.
05:36 You want me to?
05:35 but all of a sudden, you get a good-looking guy like this.
05:39 do you think that count chocula paved the way?
05:43 I think he sweetened the deal.
05:47 that is good.
05:50 Good one.
05:51 well "the vampire diaries on the cw. Ian, good luck on this one, baby, ok? -- Thanks.
06:00 I don't think I'm going to die now. -- no. -- Don't you die.

02:15 Biff, Can I have you come out here for a second?
02:19 Hi biff. - Henderson.
02:23 For example when you look at biff, you know, on face value, when you first look at his face you think, well ok here's a guy who is under a lot of pressure.
02:35 he might be in a little bit of pain, he might have a little bit of guilt and possibly some moral compromise in there.
02:43 But now if you look really, really closely and open your heart. - Sure.
02:49 Do you see? Do you see that? Do you see the love? Yes.
